So it hasn’t been enough to move to a new town, start a new job and build my own business I thought I would add another challenge to the mix just for fun.
It is for fun actually. I’ve signed up to do the Southcoast Challenge, walking 25km from Eastbourne to Alfriston in aid of ActionAid at the end of August.
Why do it? Well it’s for a good cause that is easy to stand by. I chose to support ActionAid, a leading international charity working in over 45 countries. They work with the poorest women and girls in the world, changing their lives for good.
I believe that by supporting women and girls around the world to empower themselves it not only benefits their communities, but society, economies, politics and not least their own sense of self worth, which I am happy to help any day of the week.
ActionAid’s work focuses on five key areas:
Also I’ll be walking across the South Downs National Park, a relatively large piece (1600 square kilometres to be exact) of heaven that covers Hampshire, West Sussex and East Sussex. Making it less of a challenge and more a joy. The longer I'm here in Sussex the more I see the beauty of this county and grow to love it.
For the last few months I’ve been spending more time on the Downs as I build up my stamina for the Seven Sisters. I could wax on about the wonders of clean air, the beauty of the sea and all the flora and fauna but it’s something you should all come and enjoy.
And in the age of distraction it is sometimes nice to escape to somewhere with no signal and space to think.
So if you feel so inclined you can sponsor me on my Just Giving page.
Thanks for supporting a great cause.
